Some of the materials and products we're kind of fond of

Body Materials

Tone Woods we're fond of

Swamp-Ash

Used extensively by Fender (TM) in the 1950's Swamp Ash has superb dynamic range with a great balance between bright and warm tones.  It has large open pores that make it remarkably resonant and sweet sounding.   Similar Swamp Ash bodies are more likely to differ from one another tonally than two bodies made of other materials such as Alder.   And Swamp Ash looks great when all dressed up.

Alder

15

Lighter weight with a balanced tone, Alder is a nice choice with an exotic top or opaque paint as the finish.

Curly Ambrosia Maple

22

Swamp ash body for sweet resonant sound with a curly ambrosia maple top to make it unique.

Zebra Wood

22

Alder body with a unique Zebra Wood custom top.

Quilted Maple

22

Alder body with a Quilted maple top in Black on Black.

Ziricote

22

Alder body with a Ziricote top.

Neck Wood & Fingerboards

Raw materials for necks and fretboards

Maple Neck

12

Maple has a uniform grain, it's strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods

Flamed Maple Fingerboard

15

Using a laser to detect a low fret

Rosewood

22

A nice hard wood that polishes to a nice finish

Striped Ebony

22

Some folks prefer pure black ebony,  I prefer the variations of the Striped Ebony.

Richlite (TM) Compressed Paper

22

impervious to environmental changes and produces a tone similar to Ebony.

Bloodwood

22

A nice hard wood that polishes to a nice finish

Electronics

Some of the electronics we've used

Lindy Fralin (R) pickups

12

The quality of Fralin pickups is hard to deny.     Lindy is still personally involved in making them great.

Lollar (R) Pickups

15

A favorite of many great musicians, Lollar produces solid pickups in a wide variety of tones.

Fender Noiseless Pickups

22

Tried and True, Fender Noiseless pickups are popular for good reason.

CTS tight-tolerance Pots

22

The higher rated pots with +-10% tolerance for smooth transitions

Hardware

Some of the hardware we've used

Cryo-Wire Frets

12

Cryogenic, or deep freezing treatment produces a fret wire that has great tone, longer life, and plays better with variety of profiles

Fender (R) Locking Tuners

15

Forget the excessive winding lock and roll and you're ready to tune.

Qi Jack Output Jack

22

Folks will say these are unnecessary and expensive.  I say a few extra bucks for no more crackling from a loose jack is money well spent.

Schaller Hard Tail Bridge

22

Solid design, easy intonation and action adjustments.

Wilkinson Tremolo Bridge

22

Solid design, easy intonation and action adjustments.
